Edward Eighmey of Ridge died Jan. 28 at the age of 78.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931, to Ruth (Hoffman) and William Eighmey in Brooklyn, where he was raised.
He married Cecilia Johnson in Brooklyn in 1952. Mr. Eighmey worked as a driver for the New York City Department of Sanitation until retiring in 1995.
He was a parishioner of St. Mark R.C. Church in Shoreham and, according to family members, enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.
Predeceased by his son, Gary, Mr. Eighmey is survived by his wife; his sons Edward and Brian; his siblings Isabelle, Veronica, Edith, Thomas and Ruthann; and five grandchildren.
The family received visitors Jan. 30 and 31 at O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place. Funeral services were held Feb. 1 at St. Mark R.C. Church. Interment followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
