Winning MegaMillions ticket sold at cards and Things 0 comments below
The lone winning ticket in Tuesday night's MegaMillions drawing was purchased at Cards and Things on Route 25A in Rocky Point.
The New York State Lottery reported Wednesday that the first prize jackpot was for $162 million. The winning numbers were 3, 33, 35, 39, 45 and Megaball number 13.
As of presstime no winner had stepped up to claim the prize.
Cards and Things owner Sonny Zaveri said the previous biggest winning ticket his store had ever sold was for $6 million. But he said that ticket was sold about 10 years ago.
Mr. Zaveri said the winning ticket created a media circus at his store and he hopes it also beings more customers in to play the Lotto.
"Right now we have all the media here," he said. "It's very exciting."
According to the New York State Lottery Web site, all prizes must be claimed within a year. For information on claiming prizes, log onto nylottery.org and click on "Ask New York Lottery."
