Ruth A. (Berner) Rich, 89, of Williamsport, Pa., and formerly of Southhold, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Manor Care North in Williamsport.

Ruth was born March 22, 1920, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Paul E. and Edna R. (Ashton) Berner.

She was married to Herschel Theodore "Ted" Rich for 63 years until his death in 2001. Ruth enjoyed reading, knitting, hooking rugs and gardening.

Ruth is survived by two sons, John P. Rich of Montoursville, Pa., and Jeffrey T. Rich of Sagle, Idaho; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah R. "Sally" and David Craig, also of Montoursville; six grandchildren: Ted, David and Nathan Craig, Rachel Emig, Michelle Rich and Jill Lemyre: six great-grandchildren: Abby, Ellie, Ben, Tyler, Jackie and Silas; and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Hopper of Ramsey, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, Deacon Fund, 102 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
