Nissan rolls, minor injuries reported   0 comments below

A Nissan Maxima involved in a three-car accident rolled over in the westbound lane of Route 48 just east of Chapel Lane in Greenport Wednesday afternoon, Southold Town police said. Only minor injuries were reported, but the accident closed part of the North Road for about an hour while eastbound traffic was diverted onto Chapel Lane.

Authorities reported that the driver and a passenger in the Nissan escaped with only minor injuries.

Three passengers in a minivan which had gone off the road after the accident received treatment at the scene from the East Marion Rescue Squad.

Anastasia Keating of Calverton was driving an elderly Greenport woman to Southold IGA for groceries in a 2001 Mercedes when she said her vehicle's right front bumper was struck by the toppling Nissan. Ms. Keating and the woman both refused treatment. The occupants of the Nissan and one person from the minivan were taken by the East Marion Rescue Squad to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment, said Greenport Fire Department Chief John Grilli.
