Police said that Mr. Lawrence had gained the girls' attention by whistling and throwing pebbles at their window.
Mr. Lawrence served time in jail last year for several previous counts of public lewdness in the village and has been out of jail "for some time now," said Southold Town Police Capt. Martin Flatley.
Capt. Flatley said that Mr. Lawrence, in custody at Southold Town Police headquarters until his court appearance on Friday, will likely face longer jail time this time around.
"Greenport residents are very concerned about his behavior, and rightly so," said the police captain. "It's alarming enough without him breaking into people's houses."
