A 26-year-old Southold man was charged with second-degree assault Saturday night for allegedly shooting another man in the neck with a rifle, Southold Town police reported.

Police arrested Ryan Lademann at about 9: 45 p.m. after responding to a 911 report of a shooting at a Pine Neck Road residence in Southold, police said. The extent of the victim's injuries are unclear, and Mr. Lademann is being held pending arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court, according to police.
