A 3-0 deficit immediately became a 4-3 lead for the Miller Place Panthers. The two-five hitters all homered in their first at-bat Wednesday against Sayville in the Class A first round, propelling the Panthers to a 17-4 win.

Miller Place pitcher Thor Miller gave up three runs in the first and then smoked a homer to right field in his first at-bat to make it 3-1. Joe Mancini, Dean Haussel and Matt Dunn all followed with home runs of their own in a unprecedented display of firepower.

The Panthers chased Sayville sophomore Nick Petrella after retiring only one batter in the game. He gave up five runs on five hits. Junior Zach Cassetta followed and wasn't much better. The Panthers put up nine in the second inning all off Cassetta.

After a shaky first inning Miller dominated the rest of the way. He came out after six innings with nine strikeouts and two hits allowed. He hit three batters and walked two. Dunn came in to pitch a scoreless seventh.

Mancini was 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and Dunn was 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs for Miller Place.

The Panthers advance to face No. 2 Hauppauge Thursday. Hauppauge defeated Rocky Point, 9-7.
