Swine flu reported at Mount Sinai High School

One day after the Miller Place School District reported a case of swine flu in one of its schools, another confirmed case has been reported at Mount Sinai High School.

Mount Sinai Superintendent Anthony Bonasera sent a letter to district parents Thursday announcing that a student at the school, whose name and age were not disclosed, has a "low-grade case and is at home recovering."

"[The student] is expected to return to school Monday," the letter states. Schools will not close, according to the letter.

The announcement comes on the same day the World Health Organization classified the H1N1 influenza strain a pandemic. There have been more than 30,000 cases of the contagious virus reported worldwide.

The Mount Sinai School District reported an incident of whooping cough at the elementary school Tuesday.
