Leroy Jefferson of Aquebogue died Sept. 21 at his home. He was 75.

He was born Aug. 7, 1934, in Cumberland County, Va., to Lenious Jefferson and Nellie-Sue Thomas. He attended schools in Cumberland County, Aquebogue and Riverhead.

Mr. Jefferson ran his own business, Leroy Jefferson and Son Landscaping, which he started in 1973. According to his family, he enjoyed cooking, landscaping and riding around in his car.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Patrice-Renee, six brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Jefferson is survived by his children Joseph Miller of Richmond, Va., Reginald Brown of Mastic, David, of Atlanta, Ga., Lloyd and Kevin, both of Riverhead, and Tanyaneka, of Aquebogue; his siblings Estelle Hicks of Riverhead, Connie Cartwright of Cumberland, Va., Bailey Flood of Yaphank and Leona, of New York City; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family received visitors Sept. 26 at Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead, where funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Roy Pennon. Interment followed at Riverhead Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel of Riverhead.
