Dem wins in Southampton
Bridget Fleming takes special election for Town Board seat   1 comments below

Democrat Bridget Fleming won the special election to fill a vacant Southampton Town Board seat Tuesday. She defeated Republican Bill Hughes by a vote of 3,203 to 2,662, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

Ms. Fleming, an attorney from Noyac who also ran on the Independence line, will fill the council seat vacated by Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst when she became supervisor in January.

The Republicans now have a 3-2 advantage on the Town Board. Ms. Throne-Holst was elected on the Democratic line but she is not registered with any political party.

Mr. Hughes is a Southampton Town Police lieutenant who retired this month.

I hope she knows that the independent line helped get her elected, she should not act like a hardline democrat
