Blizzard approaches
Residents ready themselves for heavy snow   7 comments below

A snow plow fills up at a local gas station in anticipation of a long night of plowing.
East End residents are gearing up for a major winter storm which could bring up to a foot of snow to some areas. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning and a coastal flood advisory for our area and predicts that the snowfall will be accompanied by gusting winds and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark. Snowfall should begin in the late afternoon on Saturday and continue overnight, with accumulations between 7 and 14 inches.

On Saturday morning, local hardware stores did a brisk business in snow shovels and salt, with many selling out early in the day. Supermarkets also saw a flurry of business beginning early in the morning and continuing into the afternoon. Many residents stocked up on essentials, while others bought supplies for baking Christmas cookies and holiday meals.

Residents are advised to stay off the roads due to slippery conditions and possible whiteouts from the heavy snowfall.

Hey Al,
Send us some of the global warming that you are known for. Send it by the internet that you created, we don't want you to take it here on your private jet.

A PS to my other comment.
This isn't a time for IMAO games. This a time for facts. Scientific fact. This is a time for thinking. Check the link to see how insignificant we really are. We've mapped all of this and have yet to find another "earth" that we could scrap.

"Where's your global warming now, Mr Gore?"
This person must belong to the Sarah Palin Dumbing of America Club. I recall Christmas sometimes having temps 60* +... recently!
Global warming does exist, while part may be a "cycle" much of it is attributed to the activities of US. Are we forgetting the man made chemical Freon and what it did? The Ozone hole has been almost closed due to our ACTIONS. You can also believe this... what if we don't even attempt to rectify it? Oops? Not a chance I want to take with the ONLY planet around, especially for my kids.
