She was born June 12, 1952, to Charles and Arletha Calhoun in Glennville, Ga., and moved to Riverhead when she was 10. She graduated from Riverhead High School.
Ms. Calhoun was as a migrant worker, and this work eventually took her to Florida. After suffering injuries in a car accident, she had been living at the Lakewood Nursing Home for five years.
According to her family, she loved reading the Bible and doing crossword puzzles.
Predeceased by her siblings, Judy Kidd, Lamar Gardner and Darlene Calhoun, she is survived by her children, Ebony Herrera, Kenneth Nash Jr. and Gary Calhoun, all of Riverhead, and Trinda Nash and James Williams, both of Troy, N.Y.; her siblings, Patricia Brown and Marvin Calhoun, both of Riverhead; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial were held in Palatka.
