He was born Aug. 5, 1938, to John and Jennie (Gatz) Bokinz in Jamesport. He worked at Riverhead Town's department of public works for about 40 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work, said his wife, Joan. "Bowling was his number one sport," she said, adding that he frequently played at Wildwood Lake Bowl and Riverhead Polish Hall.

Mr. Bokinz is survived by his wife of 40 years; his children, Marie Lamb of Sound Beach and John, of Mount Sinai; four grandchildren; and his mother, of Mattituck.

Family will receive visitors today, Thursday, July 24, at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Father Robert Kuznik will conduct a funeral service Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead, Interment will follow at St. Isidore's Cemetery.
